Sanitary Pad Project Phase II In Zimbabwe

Menstrual Health Education and sanitary pad distribution among adolescent girls in rural communities in Zimbabwe.

Women and adolescent girls throughout the world face challenges during their monthly period. Some of these challenges can be biological or physical and some of such experiences are cramps and fatigue. Other challenges for women, especially young adolescent girls in developing countries is managing menstrual blood flow without modern sanitary products. In many cases, these young ladies turn to use unhygienic piece of cloth, cotton wool during menstrual cycle, sometimes tissue paper and other materials due to their inability to afford modern sanitary pads available in the market. For most young girls, limited access to modern sanitary product make it difficult to manage their menstrual period well in a hygienic manner and hence result in lower rates at school attendance or even poor class performance. Some who face serious menstrual changes in every month sometimes give up on education and turn to drop out of school.

Due to above challenges, SOLIDAGE AFRICA FOUNDATION (SAF) in collaboration with DONATE A SANITARY PAD FOUNDATION is carrying out sanitary pad project phase II/Menstrual Education in rural and remote communities in Zimbabwe. Some of the districts listed under this project are: Madetere Makoni district, hurangire District, Goromonzi South, Epworth, Mabuuku and many more. We are expecting close to five thousands (50000) adolescent girls who will benefit from this program.
