School Of Success Conclave 2017
SHOUTS FROM THE CAMP
“It pays to identify the call for service and answer it” is a maxim that best captures feelings entertained by the ambassadors of SAF Cameroon as they saw the actualization of the 1 day school of success conclave which was billed for 8th July, 2017 at the main conference hall of the Nkwen Baptist Center, Bamenda—Cameroon. The dawn of 8th July came on the wings of high expectations. The conference hall was set and the resource persons were beaming with enthusiasm to inspire the rank and file of young people that were expected to turn out for the program. As expected, participants began to troop into the hall from 8AM and by the time the roll was called at the close of the day, the conference registered close to 60 participants. The air was pregnant with expectations when the first speaker, Ambassador George mounted the rostrum to speak on the topic “Securing the future”. Reaching back in time and projecting into eternity, he emphasized on the need to live with the future in perspective and the need to take decisions only after proper meditation in order to safeguard lasting legacies. His lesson much like every other lesson that succeeded it was practically broken down in small cell groups called workshops. Each lesson lasted for 1 hour and the workshop lasted for 20 minutes. Soon after the workshop for lesson one was done, the second speaker in the person of Mr. Nformi Nickson, an internal auditor with the Cameroon Baptist Convention Health Services was ushered to the podium with a clapping ovation. He spoke eloquently on the subject “Identifying and maximizing opportunities”. The line which made a homerun in his discourse was “You don’t have to wait your way to the top; you have to work your way to the top”. With the use of practical examples, he brought the lesson down to the grass root and the effect on the faces of the participants was beautiful to behold. Having had a very sumptuous intellectual meal served in two separate sessions of 1 hour each and with the voice of natural hunger rising to noticeable degrees, we had to have a well-deserved lunch break to equip ourselves for the second half of the day. We resumed from our lunch break at about 1:50PM just in time to get ready for the third lesson for the day. The International Young Leaders’ Assembly (IYLA) global ambassador in the person of Mr. Ashu Arrey, a respectable speaker who has been decorated with many awards broke the silence with the third lesson for the day daubed “The making of an Entrepreneur” in which he brazenly challenged the myth that Africa is a poor continent and challenged the participants to take charge of their own lives by exploring the numerous possibilities that abound in Africa. The program was beautifully capped by Mr. Mbiydzenyuy Ferdinant’s presentation on “The Future on paper” in which he elaborately underscored the need for proper planning and goal-setting as a way of averting failure and its related consequences.
What is more? The intellectual menu that was presented at the school of success conclave had all the nutrients in the right proportions. A few participants who were interviewed at the end of the program attested to this fact. The theme “footprints of legacy” was definitely the most appropriate theme for a conference of this nature. The school of success conclave is now history and SAF Cameroon is gearing up for the next conference which will come up on the 22nd of July in the Southwest Region of Cameroon tagged “Seed of Greatness Conference”.
