Seminar On Effective Communication Between Health Professionals And Patients At Dormaa Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital In Brong Ahafo Region Of Ghana.
The Solidage Africa Foundation (SAF) on Monday, 3rd July 2O17 held a one day seminar on communication skills for health professionals at the emergency unit of Dormaa Ahenkro Presbyterian Hospital.
The Seminar which was held in two sessions started 8:00am to 1O:00am in the morning and 2:00Pm to 3:00pm in the afternoon. The exact venue for the program was the hospitals conference hall.
The theme for the seminar was "Building good communication network between health professionals and their patients”. It was fully participated by four ambassadors of SAF.
In attendance was about twenty-two (22) health professionals from the hospital. The program was reported live by three radio stations; Gift Fm, Dormaa Fm and Voice Fm.
The seminar gave participants in depth knowledge on what communication is and how to effectively communicate, the relationship between health professionals and patients, the codes of establishing good communication and the law of confidentiality between health professionals and their patients.
Participants also had the opportunity to interact with facilitators of the program and share their views and challenges concerning communication with their patients.
The program was a great success. Participants expressed their utmost gratitude to SAF and the representatives who were present. Communication is the most important ingredient in every relationship, and an effective communication between health professionals and patients will go a long way to excellent health delivery in Dormaa Ahenkro.
