Solidage Africa Foundation in partnership with Full Gospel Business Men Fellowship International embarked on a health outreach in Koforidua

Solidage Africa Foundation (SAF), in collaboration with the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (FGBMFI), has organized a free medical outreach programme for residents of Koforidua, delivering essential healthcare services to more than 300 community members.

The day-long outreach, held at the Koforidua Central Market on Friday, September 13, 2025, saw a team of medical professionals travel from Accra to provide free health screenings, medical consultations, counseling, and support services to underserved populations.

The exercise brought together a multidisciplinary team comprising medical doctors, physician assistants, dentists, ear, eye, and other specialists, laboratory technologists, pharmacists, sickle cell advocates, and mental health counselors. In addition to healthcare services, businesswomen supported the initiative by donating clothing for women and children in need.

Community members benefited from comprehensive health assessments, including free testing for hepatitis, malaria, typhoid, hemoglobin levels, sickle cell status, hypertension, diabetes, body mass index (BMI), dental conditions, and other general medical concerns. Three cases of typhoid were detected during the screenings, with affected individuals receiving immediate counseling on treatment options and healthy dietary practices. Free medications were also dispensed to all diagnosed patients. As part of the oral health component, dentists distributed Pepsodent Herbal toothpaste to participants.

The outreach attracted a diverse cross-section of the community, including market traders, elders, young adults, and students. One notable case involved a 12-year-old whose parents could not afford hospital-based medical testing. He was successfully diagnosed and treated during the outreach at no cost, highlighting the critical role of community-based health initiatives in bridging gaps in healthcare access.

Beyond medical care, volunteers distributed clothing to women and children, while spiritual and mental health counselors offered guidance and emotional support, reinforcing the programme’s holistic approach to community well-being.

Despite heavy rainfall on the day of the event, the outreach was completed, ending on a note of gratitude, fulfillment, and renewed hope among both beneficiaries and volunteers.
