In a precarious climate of poverty line and hunger where so many lives are feared death by the quagmire called political instability: defined and shaped by the fraternal accolade of perennial political culture of indifference to ethnic diversity and tolerance, civil war et cetera lies the helpless cry of South Sudan for hope of salvation.
Each day, the sad spectacle of the South Sudanese people greets us on our TV screens as they speak with incredible candour their starving ordeal. The sea of tears that flood their cheeks with the narration of their suffering writes the sadism of their unspoken agony and or story.
According to the United Nations food security branch, about five (5) million people do not have enough food to eat and of this number, hundred thousand people are feared death secondary to starvation. And one million children are malnourished as a result of the famine.
Many are caught in the poverty trap and can barely get three square meal a day. "If we do not reach these children with urgent aid, many of them will die". These were the words of Jeremy Hopkins of UNICEF. My heart sorrowed as these words sank into my intellectual safety box. I was frozen with helpless pity.
Dear Cherished reader(s), I leave you with these reflective words: "I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was a stranger and you received me in your homes."(Matthew 25:35)
Together, let's tender an act of generosity to the people of South Sudan, particularly those of Bor, north central of South Sudan and other affected communities.
Together, let's do this, because generosity is the only unspoken language which convey profound meaning to the deaf and blind.
May the nectar of God's unceasing blessings and mercy locate you as you join SAF to make Africa and the world, a better place!
